Delray Beach St. Patrick's Day Parade AwardsThe parade review stand and judging team is organized by the Palm Beach County Firefighters Retiree organization. This was our second year giving out awards and it was a tough decision as we had so many notable parade participants. We presented a total of 5 awards. The Awards include a Certificate, Ribbon, and a Flag (to be brought back in future years).

Judging Criteria

Adam Rosenthal Award

2017 Winner:
Palm Beach Twirling Coalition

Adam was a 16-year veteran of Delray Beach Police Department and was tragically killed in a car accident on his way to work in 2011. Adam was 39 years old. Award goes to the group that best exemplifies the Spirit of the Parade

John Kennedy Award

2017 Winner:
The Bushel Stop

John was a 13-year veteran with the Delray Beach Police Department when he was shot and killed when he was ambushed as he sat in patrol car writing a report in 1974. John was 32 years old. Awarded to the Organization with an Outstanding Float

Carey Tiersch Award

2017 Winner:
Somerset Academy Central Miramar

Carey was a Fire Safety Specialist with Palm Beach County Fire Rescue completing 38 years of service. Carey died of breast cancer in 2013. Awarded to Outstanding Music Unit

Eric Patrie Award

2017 Winner:
Galway Fire Department

Eric was a Firefighter with Delray Beach Fire Rescue when he lost his battle with brain cancer in 2012. Eric was 27 years old. Awarded to Outstanding Marching Unit or Fraternal Organization.

Tim Monaghan Award

2017 Winner:
Eastern Long Island Police Pipes and Drums

Tim was a Firefighter with Palm Beach County Fire Rescue completing 28 years of service. Tim died of lung cancer in 2013. Awarded to the organization with an outstanding Irish Performance or Display.
